They met through mutual friends and immediately felt a spark and began chatting online and decided to catch up for a day at the beach. They clicked straight away and shared their first kiss in the surf and a lovely lunch date. Even though they lived an hour apart, they managed to share as much time together as possible and created many adventures together. Conversation began turning serious after holidaying together as a family in the Whitsundays and after that becoming inseparable. Brett made the decision to move to Ballina after much discussion of who was moving where but the call of the beach made the decision a little easier as it really suits theirs & the kid’s lifestyle Blending their families has proven challenging at times but with Brett’s military style parenting and their good communication and mutual respect, they have made it work and now they see themselves as one big family, not two that have come together. (This is the story told at our ceremony)
Tell us a funny little story about your loved one/family? Do you have a nickname?
One of our favourite camping spots on the Clarence always ends in disaster. One year, we capsized the canoe, after stupidly attempting to go up the rapids with 3 dogs. Brett was out of the canoe trying to pull me through by a rope when I filled up with water and tipped, trapping myself under the canoe for a few seconds before finding my way out. I then went on to save the 3 dogs who were quickly being swept away down the rapids and then climbing on a rock to get my breath back. We did manage to save our tightly wrapped sandwiches and a floating beer on our way back down the river. More recently we survived a storm that ripped theough the valley almost ripping the camper over as we lay inside, and other minor mishaps such as holes in inflatable tubes and cow chases. Never a dull moment in our life.
Tell us a little about your wedding planning ie: how long were you engaged? Were you a destination bride? Where there any major hurdles? What was the most fun part?
We got engaged match 2017 and planned an 18 month engagement. After having trouble with baby plans, we decided to bring the wedding forward, planning it in 3 and a half months. It all ran smoothly and was so stress free. It came together perfectly x It was such a cruisey, fun day spent with those I love most!
What was the theme or vision for your wedding?
Rustic laid back.
What was the best part of the wedding day?
All of it! The beautiful vows, the photo shoot, kicking my shoes off and celebrating with my closest friends
Where there any major hiccups? Or things you wished you changed?
I wouldn’t change a thing, even one of the guests falling off the balcony added excitement to the night! (He was ok after 10 staples to the head).
What advice would you give soon-to-be-bride’s?
Relax, enjoy it, be yourself and don’t stress the small stuff.
Would you recommend Lady Bella? If so, what did you like most about the service / your experience?
Definitely recommend! Relaxed, professional, made me feel at ease and made the day go smoothly.
